The abandoned bunker tells a powerful story of past eruptions and is one of the best viewpoints. 🛑 Tebing Gendol (Gendol Cliff) This lava cliff is the result of past eruptions. It's an active site where you’ll see locals mining sand and stones – a fascinating look into how the volcanic environment supports daily livelihoods. 🛑 Museum “Sisa Hartaku” (My Remaining Belongings) Emotional and informative. This museum displays burnt items, melted tools, and family relics that show the impact of the 2010 Merapi eruption. 💦 Optional: River Splash Ride Add more adrenaline with a fun drive through a shallow volcanic river ➕ Extra Fee: IDR 100.000 / Jeep (payable on-site) ➕ Adds ±30 minutes to total tour duration

🛕 Borobudur Temple Access & Guide Policy

Since new regulations were introduced after the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020, special rules now apply to all visitors wishing to climb to the summit of Borobudur Temple:

  • Access to the top level is limited to a maximum of 150 people per hour.
  • Visitors must follow the official reservation system via the government’s online ticketing platform.
  • Those who climb to the summit will automatically and mandatorily be guided by an official local temple guide (English-speaking), provided on-site and shared with other visitors.
  • External guides or private drivers are not allowed to lead tours inside the Borobudur structure.
